Khao San Road Review

Situated in the area of Bangkok known as Banglampu, Khao San Road (or Khaosan, or Kaosarn, or a multitude of other spellings) is one of Bangkok’s most famous streets. While once this vibrant road was mainly a hangout for hippies and budget travellers, over the last few years people from all walks of live have discovered Khao San Road and it has become a real melting pot.

While Khao San Road has managed to retain much of its cheap and cheerful atmosphere with budget guesthouses lining the road, this is also a meeting place for Thai students, artists and even well heeled tourists and businessmen.

A large number of travellers use Khao San Road as a base to explore Bangkok and there are plenty of Khao San Road hotels to choose from, ranging from basic rooms with shared bathrooms to top end hotels that provide all the trimmings.

Khao San Road is the starting point for many visitors to Thailand and there are a large number of businesses geared towards helping travellers and tourists find their feet.

The travel agencies on Khao San Road offer a wide range of different trips and packages and travellers can book anything from a tour of Bangkok to diving trips to one of Thailand’s picturesque southern islands.

Market stalls line the sides of Khao San Road and it is possible to purchase just about anything here, from souvenir t-shirts to artwork and second hand books. The shops along the side of the road and down the winding alleyways that branch off Khao San Road also sell items such as silver jewellery, lanterns and handicrafts.

When it comes to dining, there is an excellent selection of restaurants and cafes located on Khao San Road. While many restaurants offer a selection of both Thai and Western favourites, there are also some excellent restaurants specializing in cuisine such as Italian, Japanese, Indian and Korean food. Vegetarians will find plenty to tickle their taste buds here are cheap bites and food carts on the street provide snacks such as pad thai and barbequed corn.

Khao San Road has gained a reputation as a party area over the last few years and once the sun sets people from all over the city come here to play. This is a good place to listen to live bands as a number of bars host Thai bands that play popular Thai and Western pop and rock songs. There are plenty of places to sit with a drink or two and watch the world go by and in the evening a number of stalls set up offering cheap yet surprisingly strong cocktails.

Khao San Road is also a good place for clubbing and many of the clubs located here hire international DJs, pumping out a range of music such as house, hip hop, trance and techno.

Whatever you are looking for, you are sure to find it on Khao San Road. The only difficulty might be leaving the vivacity of this interesting area behind in order to explore other parts of the city. Luckily, there are a wide range of transport options available including taxis, tuk-tuks, boats and buses, so getting here and around is simple.

ถ้าถามคนไทยเกือบทุกคนรู้จัก ถนนข้าวสาร ตอนสงกรานต์  ถ้าถามฝรั่ง เขาคงตอบว่า ‘ต้องไปให้ได้’ ไม่ว่าฤดูไหน

Almost Thai people know about Khao San Road . but if ask foreigners, they know about Song-Kran festival that place on this road . and many of them said they have to reach there at lease one time  in their life.

รถ ตุ้ก ตุ้กที่ฝรั่งอยากหอบกลับบ้าน : The Tuk-Tuk cars, that many foreigners want to take back their home.

 After landing at Bangkok ,Thailand   many of travelers want to go to Khao San to spend their night time there.

ฝรั่งเกือบทุกคนเมื่อแลนด์ดิ้งที่ไทยแล้วต้องไป ข้าวสารให้ได้สักครั้ง

เราคนหนึ่งที่สงสัยมากว่าฝรั่งไปทำอะไรที่ข้าวสาร และมีดีอะไร เขาถึงข้ามน้ำข้ามฟ้ามาให้ได้กันขนาดนี้   เราเองเสียอีกอยู่ไกล้ 3ป้ายรถเมล์  แต่ไม่เคยนึกจะไปเลย

one of us wonder that why foreigners love to go there ,Why Khao San can attract many people . Until one day my German friend ask me to go there . So i had seen with my own eyes what special is . 

จนวันหนึ่งทนสงสัยไม่ไหวเลยไปดูเสียที  ชวนน้องที่รู้จักไปด้วย พอดีเพิ่งจบจากเยอรมันมา  ไม่เคยไปข้าวสารเหมือนเรา

                                              ฝรั่งกระป๋อง : lot of foriegners

                                      ฝรั่งมากฝรั่งมาย : many travelers and foriegners

ข้าวสารต้องไป 6 โมงเย็นเป็นอย่างเช้า ไปก่อนนั้น ไม่เจอฝรั่งสักคนหรอก เขาไปเที่ยวที่อื่นอยู่   แล้วเริ่มเยอะเป็นฝรั่งกระป๋อง ตอนเที่ยงคืน

You have to reach Khao San since 6.00 pm because if you reach early you will not meet lot of people , in Thailand ,most travelers spend day time to the beach or island

บรรยากาศนี่เหมือนไม่ใช่เมืองไทย เราเป็นคนกลุ่มน้อย มากๆ  มองไปรอบตัวมีแต่หัวทองๆ  ไม่ต้องไปกันแล้ว ปารีส นิวยอร์ก อังกฤษ แค่ข้าวสารนี่ก็อยู่ท่ามกลามฝรั่งมากพอแล้ว อิอิ

At Khao San you will feel that , this place doesn't like Thai place because if you look around there, you will see many people from many country 

                                    ร้านสมูทตี้ผลไม้ ขายดีมากๆๆ : many type of fruits sold here 

เราสองสาวที่ไม่เคยมีใครมาข้าวสารเลย พากันไปนั่งผับที่อยู่ชั้นสอง  มีดนตรีสด  คนร้องดีดกีต้าร์ไปด้วย และแน่นอนว่าหัวทองค่ะ เท่ดีนะ มาฟังฝรั่งร้องเพลง  แล้วทั้งผับก็หัวทองกันพรึบ   สองสาวหัวดำก็เลยนั่งแบบลีบๆ

We, 2 girls that never come here , go to pub on second floor  and i feel different because this is in Thailand but we are 2 black hair in this place but others are bronze even musicians. 

เราอยู่กันตั้งแต่   3  ทุ่ม  ถึงตี  1  ทั้งคืนนั่งกินโค้ก ขวดเดียว   ต้องเข้าใจว่าฝรั่งเวลาเขานั่งผับจะมีเครื่องดื่มอย่างเดียวเลย ทั้งคืน เบียร์กระป๋องเดียว    โค้กขวดเดียว มิกเซอร์เเก้วเดียว ประมาณนี้  ที่จะมีกับแกล้มกินเล่นล้นโต๊ะอย่างพี่ไทยนั้นไม่มีค่ะ

We spend our time there since 9.00 pm til 1.00 am with a bottle of coke , We saw that many people here happy to sit for long time with 1 or 2 bottles of beer , we thought that may be people here love to spend time to sit and notice everything around.  

                                     ทั้งโต๊ะ ทั้งคืน มีแค่ขวดเดียว : 1 table 1 bottle/person all night long 

น้องเล่าให้เราฟังว่าฝรั่งชอบดูคนมากกกกก   ดูคนเนี่ยนะ ใช่ค่ะดูคน อ่านไม่ผิดหรอก นั่งให้รากงอกแล้วดูคน คน คน เดินไปมา  อย่างกับคนไม่มีงานทำ อิอิ   ฝรั่งนี่จะว่าแปลกก็แปลกนะ

My sister told me that foreigners love to sit and see people around like a free man that have a lot of free time , that make me so wondering .

อย่างที่เคยเล่าในตอนกินปู ดูเรือบินแล้ว ว่าร้านเกาะลันตาที่ถนนข้าวสาร   มีพิซซ่าอร่อยดี  เราก็เลยกินแต่พิซซ่านี่ละ   อย่างอื่นขอบาย   เดินอีกนิดไปกินที่บางลำภูดีกว่า   บอกไว้ก่อนนะคะ ว่าร้านเกาะลันตามีหลายร้าน  แถมอยู่คนละฝั่งถนน  เรานัดกับน้องก็หลงกันไปเลย เพราะอีกคนรอที่ร้านเกาะลันตาทางเข้าถนนข้าวสาร   อีกคนอยู่หน้าร้านเกาะลันตาฝั่งถนนพระอาทิตย์ กว่าจะเจอกันอย่างกับหนังอินเดียแน่ะ ที่พระนางวิ่งหากันอ้อมโลก

I know that there is best pizza here at Koh-Lanta restaurant . but i confuse about that cause there are many Koh-Lanta restaurant here T T~

เราคิดว่าที่ฝรั่งต้องมาถนนข้าวสารให้ได้เป็นเพราะ อากาศที่่ร้อนตลอดปี ค่าครองชีพถูก  ได้มาพักผ่อน

I thought that because of the warm weather and not expensive life style here , So many traveler love to come
